‘The Muslim prayer gifted by Salman Bhai is a blessing to my house’

Actor Aayush Sharma, for whom Salman Khan happens to be his own brother-in-law, is a blessing to be in the Hindi filmy biz world. Just like his family, his house also reflects royalty. He made his film debut with brother-in-law Salman Khan’s productions Loveyatri (2018) and Antim: The Final Truth (2021), in which he starred alongside Khan. His living room has deep blue velvet couches on one side that add an elegant touch to the space. You can find a polished black centre table in the middle of the room, which highlights a rich palette of deep tones. Like many hunks, even this guy is whipping his body into shape through workouts. But do you know he has a gym inside his home?

Aayush says, “It’s very convenient for me. I train every day! I like to have the compact frame of a gymnast. Max bench press: 120 kilos. Physically, what you look like is very deceptive, by the way.” The Sharmas’ dining area, located near the living room, features a large wooden table topped off with glass and is often seen decorated with floral arrangements. Ornate light fixtures hanging from the ceiling enhance the luxe setting of the place, and large windows offer serene views of the balcony outside. A mirrored wall behind the dining table makes the entire area seem even more spacious.

“We have a little bit of Harry Potter going on in our house. My previous dog was Hagrid, and the newest chow chow is Mr. Potter! I was floored when Salman Bhai gifted me his own artwork—the part of the Muslim prayer and the different poses of the namaz. When I was doing up the house, I needed a huge artsy piece, so I requested it. Something that spreads spiritual energy! The Muslim prayer is a blessing to the house.”

Overlooking Bandra’s quaint streets, the balcony is the family’s favourite spot for celebrations. With dark marble flooring and a matching bar, the place is ideal for get-togethers with family and friends, especially during Ganesh Chaturthi. Dotted with plants and vines that crawl over lattice-like borders, the balcony also features several cosy seating areas. Khan Sharma, known for hosting unforgettable parties, often gives this outdoor area a festive makeover with lots of fresh flowers and dessert spreads. “I call it a multipurpose place. It’s best in the rain! You don’t even get wet, and you will love the monsoons here. A lot of Bollywood parties have been happening on my balcony. This is the banquet house for my family! I so want to put up an artwork of Batman on the balcony, but my wife isn’t convinced. Just imagine a Batman in a sitting position towards the cityscape with lights under it; every time the light goes on, the whole city will get to know the party is on at the Sharma house.”
