Demand for Rajiv Swagruha flats dips

  • Only 50 percent pay initial down payment

The demand for Rajiv Swagruha Flats has subsided after the initial euphoria. Only 50 per cent of those who have been allotted flats could pay the initial payment. The HMDA succeeded in selling 3900 flats in Bandlaguda and Pocharam after extending the last date. Earlier, over 39000 have applied to book the flats, but many showed no interest to make down payment. Only 1900 have paid the specified amount.

As per the rules, the intending buyers should pay Rs 3 lakh for a 3 BHK flat and Rs 2 lakh for a 2 BHK flat and Rs 1 lakh to 1 BHK flat towards the down payment within a week of receiving the allotment letter. However, even a month after receiving the letter, only 1900 paid the amount. They are supposed to clear the balance amount in 90 days. Official sources say that several from the same family have applied for the allotment of flats separately, that was why 50 per cent of the flats remained unsold. Since many did not get the sanction of bank loans, they failed to pay the initial amount.
