Case filed against builder for not providing bathtub

Case for Rs. 16.6 crore

A woman has filed a case against a developer for Rs 16.6 crore, citing the absence of a bathtub in the bathroom of the luxury apartment she purchased. The woman, an accountant from London named Mi Suk Park, bought a luxury apartment in a project developed in collaboration with fashion house Versace. The apartment is located in the Nine Elms area of the Icon London One Tower, which is a 50-story building. Park paid a deposit of Rs 4.2 crore (381,000 pounds) for a two-bedroom apartment along with parking space.

She planned to make this apartment her primary residence after retirement and sold her old home in 2019 to buy the apartment. Originally, the apartment was supposed to be completed in 2020, but due to construction delays, it was only completed in 2022.

After moving into the apartment, Park discovered several issues, including one of the bedrooms being smaller than expected and the absence of a bathtub in one of the two bathrooms. She was disappointed because the design shown to her initially had prominently featured the bathtub.

As a result, she filed a lawsuit against the developer for Rs 16.6 crore (1.5 million pounds), stating that the apartment she received did not match the layout shown to her. The developers, however, defended themselves, stating that the brochure clearly mentioned that the apartment was just a sample unit. The case is still ongoing in court.
