People living in low-lying areas face untold problems during the rainy season as their houses get flooded in the season. Some abandon their house and leave for safer places. Many people would not be able to dispose of their house and would not be able to afford another property. In this backdrop, several people are preferring to get their houses lifted. They are approaching such firms which undertake the projects like lifting of houses.
The demand for such firms’ services has increased manifold, of late. In Kochi, several house owners have been calling up the firms to enquire about their services. It is economical to get their houses lifted compared to buying a flat or a house. Many persons are inclined to use such services as the costs involved are only one-fourth of building a new house.
Several firms depending on the nature of the structure, its bearing capacity, number of storeys and so on are undertaking the work to lift the houses using modern technologies. First, excavation of soil would be undertaken up to the foundation. Later, the workers will lift the house using jockeys or hydraulic structures. Later, they build a new foundation and fix the house so that it will never be flooded during rainy season.
