If you know how much water is used to make some of the products of our daily use, you will wonder whether we really need those products.

RegNews – Hyd, Nov 23: Water like Gold, Crude Oil has become now a scarce commodity. If there is any third-world breaks it will be fought only for water. The water which is a free natural resource now packaged and sold. Rs 82, 600 crore worth bottled warer is sold each year. This is growing at a rate of 14.03 percent between 2022 and 2030. India consumes about five liters of bottled water per person per year. Approximately 9,200 crore liters of water are sold each year. Around 150 registered brands are being bottled in over 6000 locations across India.

Water is essential for living.

Slowly but steadily water is being monetised. It is also traded as a commodity in some markets just like gold and oil are traded. The water has become a new currency. Precisely for this reason, the Indian Plumbing Association has set up an educational wall to sensitize visitors to the exhibition area on how much water is used in making their favorite product and how they can contribute to conserving water. It is an enlightening wall. Water conservation starts at home. Just read it and help conserve water. Because no water, no future, no life.

A T-shirt requires 2720 liters of water to produce one cotton T-shirt. So, control your urge to buy too many T-shirts. Use your old ones when you sleep. A Cotton Bed Sheet requires 9,750 liters of water to produce one. So, stock only the right quantity. Cut and re-use old bed sheets for other purposes.10,850 liters of water is required to produce a pair of Jeans. So do not buy too many for the sake of ‘color choice’. Pick the color that suits you best

12,760 liters of water is required to produce one smartphone. So do not change your phone often. To extend the life of the phone use it only for communication purposes. And when you discard your old phone for an urge of a new model, then give the old phone to those who can not afford to buy one. To produce one pair of leather shoes we need 8000 litres of water. Make use of that one pair and buy a new one when it wears and tears. 52,000 to 83,000 liters of water is required to produce one new car. So it is better to follow the ‘one family one car’ rule and use car-pooling whenever possible

It takes at least twice as much water to produce a plastic water bottle as the amount of water contained in the bottle. Buy a new bottle of water after thoroughly using the existing one. Approximately 9 liters of water is required to refine 3.5 liters of petrol. So please make all out efforts to reduce the consumption of petrol. Excluding food, the average amount of consumer goods we use per day requires 2,200 liters of water for production. So buy what you need; don’t buy for the sake of ‘shopping pleasure’.

It takes 220 liters of water to produce a cup of apple juice. Eating apples is greener than drinking apple juice.

It takes 70 liters of water to grow a single apple.

You need about 1,700 liters of water to make a single chocolate.
