Plumbing conference in Hyderabad on this topic
Event to be held from 21st to 23rd of November at HITEX
The Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) has stated that water is not only one of the most essential resources for humanity but is also vital for the survival of our societies and economies. However, it raised concerns that nearly 30 to 40% of this precious water is wasted due to plumbing leaks. To address this issue, the IPA is organising the “30th Plumbing Conference” under the theme “Water… The New Currency” from the 21st to the 23rd of this month at HITEX, Hyderabad.
This conference is set to be the largest event in the country in the last 9 years, according to IPA representatives. Minister Sridhar Babu will inaugurate the conference, where plumbing, water, sanitation, and construction experts from various countries around the world will participate. It is estimated that nearly 1,500 delegates will attend, with around 80 exhibitors showcasing their products, and more than 8,000 visitors expected to attend.
The theme “Water… The New Currency” has been chosen with the aim of promoting sustainability and emphasising the crucial role of water in climate action. It also aligns with India’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and supporting initiatives like Green Credits and Water Credits. The conference focuses on improving water management, fostering innovations, and strengthening economic stability.
The concept of “Day Zero” refers to a situation where a city’s water supply is nearly depleted. When a city reaches Day Zero, conditions such as restricted water supply, rationing, and limited usage in municipalities occur. The IPA highlighted that cities like Bengaluru and Chennai have recently faced such critical situations, but they assured that Hyderabad is not currently facing such challenges. With abundant water resources available here, the city is unlikely to face any such issues for the next two decades.
