The Maharashtra RERA has served notices on over 16000 builders for their fault of not providing information about their projects. As per Section 11 of the RERA Act, the projects that are registered with the REREA are required to update the details of their project on quarterly basis.
Since many builders did not update the status of their projects, the RERA resorted to taking action against them. It served notices on the builders of over 19,500 projects in January this year. Of them, builders of 16,000 projects did not respond at all, while others gave only part information. In this backdrop, it served notices on the builders sending e-mail. It asked them to respond within 15 days and furnish relevant details and threatened to take action against the builders if they did not respond to the notices.
