The Forum for Good Governance Secretary Padmanabha Reddy has opined that the state government is wanted in taking appropriate measures on illegal constructions in the city. The civic authorities have been serving notices on owners of such structures, but the owners have been obtaining stay orders from courts.
As a result, the civic authorities are not able to take stern measures on such persons. Therefore, he wrote a letter appealing to the Governor Tamili Sai Sounderrajan to issue orders to government to take suitable action. He prayer her to issue orders to appoint Chairman and members to the Municipal Building Tribunal, constituted amending the GHMC act in 2016. Request placed to the authorities under the RTI on the tribunal, the officials are giving vague reply stating that the issue is under the active consideration for the past six years.
In Hyderabad, illegal structures are being sold to people. The buyers of such properties have been facing problems. That is why, the Forum for Better Hyderabad urged the government to deal the illegal construction activity with a heavy hand.
