The Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to implement a single-window mechanism to issue permissions needed to construct a house in just 60 days. Therefore, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has directed the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to take necessary steps to launch portal titled ‘Go live”. Currently, the process to get necessary approvals is rather complicated. Obtaining no-objection certificate from various government departments, delay in conducting site inspection and other follow up activities have been delaying grant of necessary approvals to build houses.
In this backdrop, to complete the whole process through single window a website titled ‘Go live’ has been devised. The trial run of the portal is under way since April 1. It will save a lot of time as all relevant government departments that issue permissions have been brought under the purview of the online portal. Otherwise, it would take at least three to six months to get approvals necessary to build homes, according to TVS Emerald General Manager Ravichandran.
