The Government of Andhra Pradesh has given its clearance to implement AMRUT (the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects in urban areas to provide safe drinking water facility and sewerage facilities in urban areas. In 106 urban local bodies, the government will implement 239 projects.
The Union Urban Development Ministry cleared the proposals submitted by the state government to implement the AMRUT projects. The AP government gave administrative accord to implement the projects at a cost of Rs 3151 crore. Of the amount Rs 1065 crore would be borne by the Centre while the state government’s share was limited to Rs 1189 crore. The share of the local bodies would be Rs 695 crore. Under the AMRUT, Rs 1877.36 crore would be spent for drinking water supply, Rs 1085 crore for treatment of sewer water and Rs 189 crore for rejuvenation of water bodies.
