The senior police officials axed seven police personnel who provided special amenities to promoters of DHFL – Kapil Vadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan – who are in judicial custody. The seven cops – a SI and six constables – have been placed under suspension. The promoters of DHFL have been arrested on charges of defrauding banks to the tune of crores of rupees. The Wadhawan brothers were subjected to medical check ups in hospitals in Mumbai. According to a TV channel report, the promoters received special privileges during the course of the treatment. Navi Mumbai police escorted the two promoters while taking them to the hospital from jail. Upon monitoring the TV footage, the higher authorities in the police department noted that the seven police personnel showed dereliction of duty. Therefore, they placed a SI and six constables under suspension.
