The origin of Vastu
There are many claims that Vastu originated in Andhra Pradesh. Traditions and beliefs about Vastu have been prevailing in the region since long. If you look at houses built 70 or 80 years ago, they are in accordance with Vastu. Vastu Shastra is not a superstition, but purely scientific. Aspects like
Earth’s rotation, gravity, magnetic fields and so on play vital role in this. The location of bedroom should be in a specific direction, while the kitchen should be at its proper place.
According to mythology, one should not sleep with your head facing north. This is justified by science too. The earth has north and south poles. Magnetic waves travel from south to north due to topography. The magnetic field of Earth affects brain. Therefore, if one sleeps with one’s head towards the north, the mental state may gradually lose balance due to these waves. As a result, heart disease, cancer and other neurological disorders are likely to occur. Keeping this in mind, Vastu suggests that the north side of the house should weigh less compared to the other sides. Therefore, Vastu advocates placing more doors and windows on the north side to reduce the weight of the wall.
At the same time, the weight of the building on the south side should be more as opposed to the north direction. Also, it is said that no heavy objects should be placed in the north-east corner. There is a reason behind this. The Sun’s attraction is more towards east. And when the earth rotates around itself, it rotates from southwest to northeast. As a result, the burden is more on the north-east side. This is why it is said that the weight should not be heavy on the north-east side. Thus every aspect of Vastu has a scientific principle behind it.
