Her adorable living room with a majestic view of the sea link and the sea, her perfect kitchen, serene bedroom and more are the new add-ons. Her home is her refuge! The ambient living room that is decorated with a rust-coloured couch and a oval coffee table in the trendy plaster texture. There is also a rattan seat with cushioning close to the windows and the room has two large bird of paradise plants. Understood?

She has just calmed the chaos! Have taken total control and made her house a more welcoming home because a home that’s a mess will never make it for a serene one. You know what we mean? So she brought in some new items to make her home look more happier. Mithila and her designer have turned the lobby wall into a small gallery of pictures of her special moments with friends and family. The kitchen looks stunning with white countertops, beige cupboards and a breakfast counter with again, oak-toned rattan bar chairs. The bedroom comes with an arch cut out in the main wall. The indent is decorated with a tropical wallpaper and a black wall scones with oak-tones side tables.

Looking at her home decor she’s getting more and more adventurous because she mixed a period and style! Not at all hesitant to combine different woods in a space. So the era of matchy-matchy furniture is over. It was such a huge gamble – her best and she were working together as professionals and it can go south. But if anything, it has only brought them closer together. The three things they actually debated on for the longest time were the name plate, the coffee table, and the colour of the couch. But as her best friend, she manages to convince Mithila. She doesn’t remember the last time she was at home for three days straight before this. As her grandparents are growing older, it was very special that she could spend all that time just co-existing with them, which is something that they as a family, through their silences, have figured out how to do.

The story behind Mithila Palkar’s new home is charming enough to make anyone smile. Watching her speak animatedly about her space and move through the rooms with ease brings a certain inexplicable feeling of satisfaction—of watching someone truly belong. It doesn’t hurt that the cute apartment’s design, courtesy of Rutuja Tulsulkar, principal designer at Studio Bloom, feels like a warm hug. Best friends for more than a decade, Mithila assigned Rutuja the task of designing her home long before she was even looking for a place. Since Rutuja started studying design, shr knew that her first house will be designed by her.

They built castles in the air about what their homes would look like one day, and it all panned out years later when Mithila set her sights on this cosy space. For Rutuja, knowing her client inside out only helped curate the space perfectly. It was a very fluid process. They are not just best friends but they share an aesthetic sense. Anyone who knows Mithila, knows that she is a warm, kind person. And the designer wanted to capture her personality, no filter. Mithila has always dreamt of having a space to call her own. She’s particular about details and organised about her surroundings. It only made sense to have an uncluttered home. Bright and warm colours thus accent with a soft pop, ultimately cohesive with the elegant space.

Playing with bold colours can be intimidating, but the actress creatively used vibrant colours and added life to her space without going overboard! The old adage there is no beauty without colour holds true when she speaks of her home. Colours instantly livened up her space and impacted her moods. But gone are the days when we would resort to pastels and neutrals because they were a safe bet. Now, times have changed, and she is here to tell you that it is possible to integrate bold colours into your décor in the form of fixtures, accessories, or other elements, without making it look tacky.
