In the new year, nearly 200 million square feet of new housing supply is expected to hit the market. In 2024, announcements were made for the supply of 253.16 million square feet of new homes, but only 23% of that was launched. The launch of new projects slowed down due to the general elections and elections for several state assemblies. With the elections over, experts predict that about 200 million square feet of new homes will be launched in the new year. As the elections conclude and the real estate sector recovers, developers are expected to focus on starting new projects in the coming quarters.
The top 11 listed developers are expected to launch 253.16 million square feet of new supply by the start of the 2025 fiscal year. However, only 57.15 million square feet (23%) of this was launched. As a result, the remaining new homes are expected to be launched in 2025. Among the top 11, Bengaluru-based Prestige Group is set to launch 75 million square feet but has so far launched only 10.05 million square feet. Signature Global holds the second position with projects covering approximately 29.3 million square feet, but only 9.5 million square feet (32%) have been launched.
