    taken depending on the complaint
  • Officials embarking on an exercise to check developers

Government officials have been drawing up plans to resolve complaints pouring in against developers such not registering flats or not executing works as stipulated. A new policy holding developers responsible is on the anvil. The policy proposes imposing heavy fines on the erring developers.

Not executing sewerage treatment plant and not providing club house and other amenities required to be provided in high-rise buildings would attract fines ranging between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. The officials are currently studying the proposal. Besides imposing fines, they are proposing to cancel the occupancy certificate, imposing fines on dues recoverable from developers, sealing the sales office and apartments not yet occupied. A draft policy is going to be released soon.
