There are many problems in Hyderabad right from traffic problem to the problem of pollution. The government, which is supposed to resolve them, apparently paid no attention to it leading to continuation of the problems further. At some places in Hyderabad, the air pollution is very high, according to statistics. The places like Panjagutta, Nehru Zoological Park, Sanat Nagar the air pollution is found to be very high, ringing alarm bells for the people. The areas like Miyapur, JNTU, Madhapur and Gachchi Bowli, the air pollution is problematic.
According to the WHO standards, the particulate matter-10 dust particles in air should be up to 15 micro grams. At some places in Hyderabad, it touched 105 micro grams mark, which is seven times more than normal.
Experts caution people living in these areas would have a tendency to develop lung problems. The ever increasing emissions from vehicles in Hyderabad lead to deterioration of air quality and increasing pollution. Release of effluents by industries into air is making the problem more complex, officials say. If the air pollution continues at the present rate, it will pose more problems to residents of Hyderabad in future. The increasing air pollution is likely to cause mental illness, lung cancer and other chronic diseases. There is also possibility of death due to decreasing supply of oxygen to brain. Therefore, several have been appealing to the government to respond on the issue and take steps to check pollution.
