With an impressive repertoire of roles that challenge conventional norms, Apte has emerged as a powerhouse performer, effortlessly portraying the complexity of the everyday woman on screen. Beyond the silver screen, she has made significant strides in the world of web series, captivating audiences with her captivating performances in Netflix’s acclaimed productions like ‘Lust Stories,’ ‘Sacred Games,’ and ‘Ghoul.’ Now, the talented actor is all set to mesmerize viewers once again with her upcoming role in the Apple TV+ series, ‘Shantaram.’

While much of her quarantine time has been spent in her London apartment, Apte also maintains a cozy flat in Mumbai’s bustling Versova neighborhood—a vibrant space that reflects her eclectic taste and vibrant personality. In a candid peek into her abode as part of Asian Paints’ former series ‘Where the Heart Is,’ Apte graciously opened her doors and shared insights into her life in Mumbai alongside her husband, British avant-garde composer and violist Benedict Taylor.

Reflecting on her journey to Mumbai, Apte credits her husband for instilling the courage to pursue her acting dreams in the city of dreams. Recalling their initial conversation, she fondly remembers Taylor’s words of encouragement: “Just let’s go to Bombay and try and make this happen.” It was a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of Apte’s journey in Mumbai, a journey that would eventually lead her to call the city her home indefinitely.

From the selection of their cozy apartment to the vibrant hues adorning its walls, Apte attributes much of their home’s aesthetic to Taylor’s keen eye for design and appreciation for natural light. “He has a great sense of the kind of house to live in because he looks at the light,” she shares, emphasizing the importance of ample light in their living space.

True to her unconventional spirit, Apte’s home defies traditional configurations, boasting an eclectic mix of colors and patterns that reflect her vibrant personality. From boldly painted walls to carefully curated vintage furniture pieces, every corner of her 2BHK abode exudes warmth and character.

One particular room stands out with its walls adorned in Asian Paints’ ColourNext Colour of the Year 2018, Passion Flower—a testament to Apte’s bold choices and artistic sensibilities. Surrounded by an array of paintings, Apte envisions the wall as a canvas for cherished memories and artistic expression.

As a sentimentalist and self-proclaimed “hoarder of memories,” Apte treasures furniture pieces passed down from her grandparents and parents, infusing her home with a sense of nostalgia and history. Among her prized possessions are a special chair in the living room, a symbol of her journey to independence, and her mother’s enduring presence in her life.

But perhaps the most cherished spot in Apte’s home is her balcony—a serene oasis where she finds solace and relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s here, with a cup of tea in hand, that Apte unwinds and embraces moments of tranquillity amid her bustling life.
