Gated communities to have EV Stations

There is no let up in the spiralling prices of petrol and diesel. As a result, many people have shifted their focus to use electric vehicles. To check environmental pollution due to emission of the CFCs, the government of Telangana announced last year its Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Policy for the period 2020-2030. As the use of electronic vehicles is on the rise, EV stations have become mandatory in all gated communities.

There are over 20 electric vehicles manufacturers in Telangana who manufacture two- and three-wheelers run on renewable energy. People have started realising the importance of owning electric vehicles after a year of the government declaring its policy.

Gated communities have been making arrangements to get their electric vehicles charged. Projects like Rajapushpa, Indis, Aparna, SMR Holdings, and My Home have been providing the EV stations in their communities. Currently, Rs 6.50 is being charged per unit to charge the electric vehicles. A paid meter has been installed for these stations. Depending on the demand, the number of EV stations will be increased, it is reliably learnt.

Currently, the state government invited bids to provide over 140 electric vehicle re-charging stations. At the same time, people have been making arrangements to get their vehicles re-charged. The gated communities have been providing the e-charging facilities in their parking areas. SCOVA association president King Johnson said that discussions are under way with stake holders to provide e-charging facility in SMR Vinay City Gated community.
