Hyderabad roads get water-logged even if a minor shower occurs in the city. It is everyone’s knowledge. But, the recent incessant rains have been playing havoc with the people of the city. The GHMC officials apparently not thinking along conserving every drop of rain the city receives.
In fact, every house-hold should have a rain-water harvesting structure to encourage rainwater seeping into the sub-soil. As a result, ground water table increases and water flowing waste on roads can be checked. Several civic bodies across the country are encouraging people to set up rain-water harvesting structures. However, the GHMC officers beg to differ.
What is the rank of the GHMC in the country in promotion of rain-water harvesting structures? How many buildings do have such rain-water harvesting structures? Whether developers of real estate are establishing such structures or not? Inspection of realty projects to encourage builders to set up such structures in their projects is doubtful.
In this backdrop, several have been appealing to the GHMC officials to focus attention on this aspect. They suggest the GHMC officials to verify whether people building individual homes are establishing such rain water-harvesting structures.
