Mayon Infra: Powering India’s Future, One Turnkey Project at a Time
From humble beginnings as an electrical contracting firm, Mayon Infra has grown into a trusted name in turnkey infrastructure solutions—successfully delivering over 1 million sq. ft. of high-quality IT and office spaces across India. Built on first-hand site experience and a keen understanding of project coordination, the company now offers end-to-end solutions across design, civil works, interiors, and MEP services. Driven by a deep commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability, Mayon Infra integrates advanced tools like 3D design modeling and embraces eco-conscious practices such as energy-efficient systems and water optimization. Their ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications are a testament to their rigorous execution standards and focus on employee welfare. Looking ahead, Mayon Infra is expanding into new geographies and sectors—while staying true to its core values: precision, innovation, and people-first execution. Here is an exclusive interview with Mr. Raghava Prasad, CEO of Mayon Group, who shares the story behind this remarkable journey. Special Interview: Q1. From an electrical contracting firm to a full-scale turnkey solutions provider-what inspired this transformational journey for Mayon Infra, and what were some pivotal moments along the way? ANS: My journey began at the ground level, handling electrical contracts for commercial projects. While executing these services, I could closely observe how sites function. I soon began noticing gaps beyond just electrical installations: the value of coordination, a single point of accountability across services, and all that. These observations led to a conviction that I could contribute more, and the birth of Mayon Infra. I immersed myself in learning new trends and quickly adopted industry standards. My experience managing large teams during MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) projects helped us scale with confidence. The turning point came when we began applying global benchmarks in design, quality, and safety, while staying grounded in our core strength - local execution. One of our earliest projects was building the office of a leading airline company in the Middle East. That was when we picked up momentum. It pivoted us to turnkey solutions, where design, civil, interiors, and services come together seamlessly. This led to a diversity of successful projects – prestigious corporate projects in Bengaluru’s tech hub Electronics City, heavy engineering units, and a bio-innovation centre. Today, our growing team of over 250 professionals is delivering high-value IT and office spaces across India. We’re happy, but not content; we can and will deliver a lot more. Q2. Mayon Infra has successfully delivered over 1 million sq. ft. of IT and office space. What strategies and principles do you attribute to consistently delivering high-quality and innovative projects? ANS: Electrical installations require stringent safety measures and they come with a great responsibility. And the quality of products and processes drives it all. So even before we entered the infrastructure space, the commitment to high-quality deliverables was already a part of our DNA. Delivering over a million square feet of IT and office space hasn’t just been about scale. It is consistency, systems, and a mindset of accountability that make the difference. We focus on building a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility - whether it’s the site engineer or the finishing team. From day one, we’ve placed quality and safety at the heart of our operations. Our ISO certifications - 9001, 14001, and 45001 - reflect the rigor we apply to project execution, from planning to handover. Since we offer design, civil, interiors, and MEP under one roof, we’re also able to avoid scope gaps and miscommunication - two common causes of delays and quality lapses in this industry. Q3. How does Mayon Infra approach the integration of the latest technologies and sustainability standards in its construction and design practices? ANS: On the tech front, we’ve been quick to adopt tools that improve accuracy, efficiency, and coordination - 3D design modeling, smart project tracking, automation in services like MEP and lighting systems, and so on. These tools help reduce errors, speed up timelines, and ultimately minimize material wastage. Sustainability is a core part of our design thinking. We consciously source materials with lower embodied energy, encourage energy-efficient systems, and follow best practices in thermal insulation and daylight use, especially in large office and IT spaces where long-term performance matters. And water. Construction is a water-intensive industry, so we are very mindful of how we optimize its use - whether through controlled curing methods, recycling practices, or conscious site planning. Tech and sustainability aren’t isolated - they are part of the same mindset. After all, both revolve around efficient usage of resources and minimizing wastage. Q4. With your ISO certifications and focus on employee welfare, how do you see Mayon Infra setting benchmarks in safety and compliance across the construction industry? ANS: At Mayon Infra, we believe in putting people and project safety first. We’re also great believers in meeting compliance, and constantly try to exceed those benchmarks. Our ISO certifications reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and occupational safety. We consistently implement these standards across all our sites, and that’s where we really shine. Take personal protective equipment (PPE) and occupational safety and health (OSH), for instance. We’ve cemented them firmly within our robust internal systems. We are always learning and improving, and even as I say this, I can assure you documentation, zero compromise, incident response, prioritization, QA checks - are so firmly in place – they can be termed our second USP. And our people. We go to great lengths to keep them aligned with the latest protocols. That way, accountability isn’t forced top-down; we all share it. This helps us meet and exceed customer expectations and industry standards. Q5. The infrastructure and real estate sectors in India are evolving rapidly. What upcoming trends or shifts do you believe will define the future of turnkey construction in the next 5–10 years? ANS: If I look at the next 5–10 years, two overarching themes will shape the future of turnkey construction: efficiency and sustainability. Efficiency will be driven by smarter tools: AI-powered project management, automation, and even prefabrication and modular construction. These approaches will prevent bottlenecks, improve quality control, and help us deliver with more predictability. At the same time, sustainability is no longer optional. Whether it's energy-efficient systems, smart buildings with IoT integration or the use of eco-friendly materials, clients are actively seeking partners who build responsibly. We’re also seeing a shift toward wellness-driven design - natural light, better indoor air quality, and spaces that promote well-being - they are becoming standard expectations.  The exciting part? Consumers are ready to reward companies that walk this path. If you’re able to build green and prove it - you’ll gain trust and maybe even a premium. Q6. Lastly, could you share your vision for Mayon Infra over the next decade? Are there any upcoming projects or expansions our readers should watch out for? ANS: Over the next decade, my vision for Mayon Infra is to grow not just in size, but in impact and create a legacy. We want to be known as a company that sets benchmarks in quality, safety, and client satisfaction, while constantly evolving with the times. Turnkey construction will continue to be our core, but we’re actively working on diversifying our portfolio. Having delivered over a million square feet in the IT and office space segment, we’re positioned for a bigger presence. We're also building deeper capabilities with design and technology integration, which we see as essential for the future of construction. A few strategic projects are in the pipeline - some in newer geographies, and others in more specialized sectors. This ties in perfectly with the philosophy of our group. As you probably know, the Mayon Group is into IT and data, and control panels as well. Anything that pushes the envelope on precision and engineering excites us. The idea at Mayon Infra is simple: stay true to our execution genes, but keep adapting and expanding. And with the team we’ve built, we are well-positioned to take that next innovative leap.
