The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to deal illegal construction activity with a heavy hand. The GMC Commissioner Chekuri Keerti warned planning secretary and town planning officer of strict departmental action in case of illegal constructions are detected in Guntur city. She warned the civic body staff to always remain alert on illegal construction activity and undertake frequent checks at the field level and identify such structures.
She made it clear that no illegal construction activity should continue in the city and would not tolerate such activities hereafter. She wanted the illegal construction activity should come to a grinding halt. She asked the civic body staff to serve notices on such builders and bring the matter to her notice. She would not hesitate to take action against even the senior officials if they did not pay attention to the proposals sent by the town planning secretaries.
She directed city planner to hold meetings with ward planners once in a week and review the progress of the works and expressed severe resentment over not paying any fees by traders on installation of various hoardings. She asked the civic staff to immediately remove the unauthorized hoardings and banners.
