The TS-bPASS, started in 2020 to give permissions to construction of buildings under one roof, has turned out to be a cash cow for the GHMC. Under the TS-bPASS, the GHMC gave permissions to over 32,391 buildings. Out of them, permissions to over 10,000 buildings were given during current year. Compared to the number of permissions given last year, the number of permission given this year so far is more by at least 40 percent. After the property tax, the TS-bPASS emerged as the second largest revenue spinner for the civic body. Under the policy, so far the GHMC earned Rs 650 crore as against Rs 1144 crore last year. The officials predict that the revenue generated under the TS-bPASS scheme would surpass the last year’s quantum of money earned.
The GHMC tops are the local bodies in the state in giving permissions to buildings. The state government introduced Ts-bPASS to give permissions to construct buildings. Accordingly, no permission is necessary to build a G+1 structure in 75 square yards. To build a house up to a height of 10 meters and up to 500 meters, the permission is issued online within 15 through self-certification of the site owner. For buildings which are more than 10 meters tall and whose area is more than that of 500 square meters, the permissions would be given in 21 days.
