Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the central government has approved the construction of Mamunur Airport in Warangal district. The minister said that the Union Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary Amit Kumar Jha has informed the Chairman of the Airport Authority of India through a letter granting permission to Mamunur Airport. He said that the central government has responded positively to the request of the Airport Authority of India as per the orders of the state government to develop Mamunur Airport and resume operations. He said that the permission was granted after the Chief Minister held several rounds of discussions with the central government and took the initiative in taking the project to the next level.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy discussed the NOC hurdle that had been pending for the last ten years with the management of GMR and got it placed on the board and granted. With this, HAIL convened its board of directors meeting and issued an NOC amending the 150-km rule that was a hindrance to the development of Mamunur Airport. The minister said that now this NOC has been officially approved by the central government. The minister explained that this was conveyed to the chairman of the Airport Authority of India, Amit Kumar Jha, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, through a letter. He said in a statement that with the cooperation of the Chief Minister, the construction of the airport will be taken forward at a faster pace.
The Minister stated that the letter stated that Hyderabad International Airport Limited (HIAL) had issued a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for the development of Mamunur Airport. Moreover, the Minister recalled on this occasion that the Telangana Government had earlier released Rs 205 crore for handing over 253 acres of additional land required for the development of Mamunur Airport to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The Minister thanked the Chief Minister on this occasion and expressed happiness over getting all the necessary permissions for the airport.
