Exclusive with REG : From foundation to roof, the national award-winning actor Pankaj Tripathi’s holiday home has all the elements of the different communities he has been visiting for professional purposes. You can literally interpret the architecture of his house! While in conversation, he also has this beautiful quality of building an environment for a reporter to comprehend his love for craftsmanship.
For example, he shared “The statement pieces I have bought from West Bengal—a one-horned rhino from Kaziranga straight from the jungles of it. Another one is an elephant that I have. I applaud the villagers. Artistry is sheer enjoyment for me. Another one could be my dining table, which has some artwork on it. My chairs are made of rosewood and jackfruit.”
So everything that you will see in MIMI fame’s home is somewhere down the line going to make you feel whimsical. Everything that’s made is based on his personal experience and nothing else. Even if it’s a simple way of drinking water at his home from Surai. Although the house, he says, is immensely spacious with a curvilinear staircase. He shared more interesting bits: “My name of the holiday home is Roop-Katha because we feel our holiday home is inspired by our old-age storybooks, keeping our deep-rooted culture alive. We bought this home into existence in a city like Mumbai, yet it gives us the vibes of a small town. Natural stone facades or asymmetrical windows are not new things to me, but to a visitor, they can be. I tried pulling off everything from the historic architecture of my gaon.”
He is hung up on lush greenery, hence the decision to build this holiday home in the middle of a leafy area. He has planted a lot of beautiful scrub! There are houseplants like jackfruit and more that give off a chic 1970s vibe. Besides the chirping birds, it seems!
