AP to build 25 work from home townships

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has proposed to develop 25 work from home townships in selected places on outskirts providing high speed internet, work stations and all other amenities. These will be developed initially on a pilot basis. Depending on the situation, they will be expanded further.

During the Covid-19 period, the work from home system, apart from IT sector, has become popular with IT sector and spread to other spheres too.

Over 18 months, many employees became accustomed to work from home culture. As there is let up in the pandemic situation, the offices have begun to work normally. Even IT companies have been asking workers to report for work in their offices. By December, all employees will work from offices.

In this backdrop, to enable the techies to work from remote places, the AP government has decided to create work from home townships. A meeting of the committee, chaired by IT Minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy, took a decision in this regard. IT advisor Srinath Reddy made a power-point presentation on the proposed IT townships. Advisor to the government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy asked the officials to ground the project works in three months.
