Rs 13,000 Cr allocated for housing in AP

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is going to spend Rs 13,105 crore this year to build houses for the homeless. Last year, it spent Rs 3,600 crore only. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has said that the amount has been increased manifold this year.

Reviewing weaker-section housing programme with officials concerned here, he asked them to be prepared with building material whenever the scheme is ready. He asked them to identify storage points in layouts. He asked them to find alternative sites to the sites locked in court litigation. Officials told the CM that arrangements have been made for distribution of house-site pattas among 1.4-lakh people on April 28 as legal wrangles are over for the same. Once the distribution of house-site pattas is over, the house construction activity will begin by June. Arrangements are being made for construction of houses in 63 layouts. Godowns will be built to store the building material in places where over 5000 houses will be built. Out of 66 godowns, construction of 47 godowns began.
