REAL ESTATE GURU EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Actress Shraddha Das is an old name to reckon with in the cinema industry, who has been flourishingly handling both Tollywood & Kollywood industries in one go. With her last release with superstar Kiccha Sudeep, brought her back to the screens with a strong character as an Interpol officer. However, as strong as her character would be in the movies, she’s yet a simple & realistic woman in reality. Taking that forward, she told us exclusively about how she is gaga over minimalistic houses! Yes, you heard that right.
Not every time it would be that a glamorous actress on-screen would turn out to be so lavish in her personal life as well. When asked about her ideas of designing her dream residence, she throws light saying, “Effortless & breath-taking décor is my way of designing my dream home. Since I have traveled the world so much, there are takeaways from there. Every country represents a style-statement & that is what I would like to inculcate in my dream home too.” She was so keyed up about telling us on the kind of furnishings she would apply in her dream abode, in the context of the same, the ‘Kotigobba’ fame revealed when she visited Scotland for the first time, there were multi-colored doors that she was surrounded with! It attracted her so much that she can’t forget the glimpse of it & is hoping to set up the same. “I also dream of setting up a greek terrace, the typical blue & white combo is so striking with chairs! It has become a kind of rite for me to always be so observant when outdoors so that I can incorporate something from the country I have visited,” added the actress who is soon going to come back to Tollywood with ‘Arrdham’ movie. Admirer of British & the regal look from England, the design of the Victorian palaces that she knows of from there is also something the ‘Mumbaikar’ looks forward to in her dreamland.
Although, she made it very clear to us as to how she will definitely eliminate the flashy décor from it. Is she interested in a flat or a villa? The actress says, “I prefer a gigantic flat in a well-gated community. I don’t like secluded villas at all, they scare me. It is not an easy task to take care of an independent home, you have to be devoted to it. Especially, in a city like Mumbai flats are the trend.” Since she has four pugs at home, wherever she thinks of buying a new home, she ensures it is pet-friendly. They need so much space to play around, she mentioned. Along with that, she wishes to have an open terrace, greenery, white walls, wooden flooring & a scenic view from the top-most floor! “I’ll design my own corners. All this while, I wasn’t so engrossed in decorating my earlier homes due to a hectic life & my mum has always beautifully taken over it. Thus far, I am all set to take care of every detail that goes into designing my dream home! From flooring, to the color of tiles, to the furniture, to the paint of my walls – all will be chosen by me,” she says.
Her chief place to build the dream residence will always be Mumbai ‘nagariya’ for the Buddhist actress & her second option boils down to Hyderabad. She continues, “Born in Mumbai so this is my first preference always. I have been house-hunting for the past two years nonetheless I haven’t found what I am truly looking for in Mumbai. My loyalties lie here. Moving ahead from Mumbai, I slightly feel glum when living in hotels when in Hyderabad for shootings. I know people from that city, I feel wanted there. I strongly believe a place is made by the people & Hyderabad is one of those.” She merrily points out how one can buy a bungalow in a plush country like say South Africa & still feel unhappy if there are no close peers around you. The one area that she would spend maximum time at would be her eco-friendly balcony obviously with her pugs. “The four enticing factors to look out for in my dream home would be vast space; I am so attached to my dogs that I always keep them in mind. Next would be green foliage, which will give me serenity. It is my personal thought that commercialized areas give us a noisy vibe. The third would be old-school furnishings! A rustic charm to my flat would be a great add-on; I don’t want to feel like I am staying in an office. Lastly, a chanting space.” Disclosing it to us that she absolutely needs an interior designer to design her dream home, seeing as she is not so good at DIY.
Crediting her mother to be the right person to go for expanding spaces, the ‘Arya 2’ actress tells us more about it, “My mother, interior designer & me will turn out to be a great trio while designing my dream-space. My mum is so good at increasing spaces even if the vicinity is limited.” When Susanne Khan put up a video of her home interiors on social media, Shraddha was quite impressed. “It was sumptuous, & I am not that fond of it, however, her interiors were stunning. Talking about the real estate scene where I am currently residing, I want something extravagant to come up here. The city is filled with towers!” She ended the interview on a gleeful note.
