Pops of color and sparkling chandeliers maybe your kind of favorite but not for the Zombie Reddy actress Daksha Nagarkar. In an exclusive conversation with The Real Estate Guru, she spells out she wants to display a timeless elegance and convey a sense of calm to anyone who crosses her threshold! There is perhaps no better choice than white, she feels. From rich cream shades to cool, classic marble to pure flat white paint, it creates an instant peace for her.
Thought she wants her home to be unique, but she also wants the white theme to persist. Far from being boring, the Telugu actress believes that the use of white actually allows a tremendous sense of change, where shadows and natural light actually become the focal point of the design! She knows the technicalities, impressive. “Since you have asked me about my first ever asset, let me tell you I haven’t bought my own residence yet however there are such soothing memories that I can recollect from my first ever abode that it fills me with immense happiness.
At the moment, I live with my parents and also my pet (she laughs). Let’s catch up a little with my past, I was born in Delhi and it has literal ‘kothis’ that has always put me in awe! The first ever home we had, there was such a gigantic lawn area given in it. It was literally the place where I learnt how to walk as a toddler. From walking, cycling, playing hide and seek to my first ever driving lesson, whenever I look at the lawn area in my present home, it makes me go back to my childhood. It feels surreal, it’s something emotional.” It felt good while listening to the actress flooding back to her childhood memories, it will surely force you to reminisce your childhood memories of the first ever home too.
When we asked Daksha who has predominantly worked in Kannada films, to choose between lavish & minimalistic — she immediately expressed how gone are the days where we gathered the entire lavish decor that could fill up a few rooms in the homes! “White is my color, be it the outfits that I adorn, the bed covers that I choose or my preferred color of marble flooring — everything got to be majorly in white! I have grown up with white interiors. To go minimalistic is the new trend! A space that’s well-equipped with minimalistic decor mostly in white shade is my idea of designing my dream home,” she adds. Seems like the actress is a fan of minimalistic paradise!
Further in conversation with the fashionista, she reveals to us that she has always owned her safe haven. From the beginning, used to living in independent villas, her desirability to choose the same hasn’t changed till date whether she’s in Delhi or Hyderabad. However, like any human she has some additions to inculcate! “If I had all the money in this world, I would have built a castle for me man. A white castle, to be precise only because my love for villas is never-ending! An open lawn area is so much more attractive than a tiny verandah. A cozy space for bonfire, family nights and lots of rescued animals are going to be my additions.” Prioritizing safety and security as an imperative element, the delhite fantasizes to build a home for herself on the top of a hill. Like any other ‘tolly’ heroine, she also has those minute desires of waking up in those poster beds with curtains, watching the sun rise and watching clouds surrounding her haven when it’s a rainy day.
On asking what would be her most favorite area, where she’ll be seen spending most of the time, she mentions the backyard. “I love the feeling of grass beneath my feet; it keeps me connected to my roots. I have many memories from that part of the house so yes a lawn would be my most spent place in my paradise,” she said. Moving ahead in the interview, it striked to us how the actress had an extraordinary thing to say when we questioned her about the most important factor to look for in her dream home and she mentions a suitable system to maintain ‘oxygen levels’. One-of-a-kind element! She explains, “Didn’t I mention that I am on the right route of building my dream castle on the hill, proper survival is a must. Another factor I will look for is a tremendously vast space to move freely, I am a free-spirited girl so why not have more freedom even in the spaces that we build for our sakes.
Flexibility with plain-vanilla interiors is another aspect that I will focus on. I hate monotony, since we are in the progressive times, a pinch of high technological design will be great to go ahead with.” Not just worried about the look & beauty of her paradise, she is also looking out for proper design. Open to collaborate with a multi-faceted interior designer, she wants to have the best of both worlds. Slightly inspired from Ayushmann Khurana’s bungalow, the talent kannada-cum-tolly beauty wants to dedicate a similar ‘wall of fame’ where she can showcase all the handwork that she has put in her cinematic journey! Even though the pandemic was a re-defining point in all our lives, Daksha Nagarkar doesn’t shy away from exclaiming Hyderabad to be the most liveable cities in the whole country.
