Some people try to rent flats on sites like nobroker.com with the idea of paying a couple of percent to the broker. However, it has come to light with the latest incident that there are cybercriminals in it as well.
A man named Kamlesh saw an ad for rent of a single bedroom flat in My Home Jewel, Madinaguda, on nobroker.com and was blown away. When he called the number given in it, he spoke to Kamlesh, stating that he was Pradeep Kumar Sharma, the owner of the respective flat. He gave the complete details of the flat, rent, and deposit. And you know what happened after that?
When he came across this in My Home Jewel, the largest gated community, he was very happy. Pradeep Kumar Sharma said that if he wants to see the flat, he needs his Aadhaar card and another ID so that he can generate an ID before coming to see the flat. His manager came in touch and asked Kamlesh to pay Rs 2,000. He assured Kamlesh that the money would be returned once the site was visited. Then the manager called and asked to pay Rs. 7,000 as the second step in addition. He believed that after visiting the entire site, the money would come back within five minutes. After paying Rs 9000, the manager said that they are having technical problems in their portal, so if they pay the first month’s rent, the third-step verification will be completed. Owner Pradeep Kumar scolded the manager in front of Kamlesh for bothering the customer. He also warned them not to come to work because they were bothering the customers.
The manager also pretended that he lost his job due to a technical problem. Kamlesh believed it to be true. In total, Kamlesh made 12 transactions and paid about Rs. 2,71,198. They also handed over the fake receipts to Kamlesh. The surprising part is that this ad is still appearing on NoBroker.com. The victim says that NoBroker.com will also have to bear the responsibility for this. Therefore, there are many fraudsters in the market regarding rentals. So, don’t pay any money to see the flat.
