Five persons including a woman have been booked for allegedly developing an illegal colony on government land and selling plots to dozens of people, the police said. The accused have been identified as Amarchand, a resident of Simrol, Sumit Rajoriya, Kamal, Sandeep Bijoriya, and Punamchand – all residents of Asrawad Khurd.
The accused had developed a colony on government land in the Asrawad Khurd area and sold plots to dozens of people on fake documents.The matter came to light when some of the plot buyers approached district administration and lodged a complaint against the accused of fraud and cheating. They alleged that the accused sold them plots on fake documents, and some of them made constructions on the plots, said officials.
Tejaji Nagar police station officials said that an inquiry into the same was conducted by the administration, and after which, the district revenue department filed a complaint against the accused. Based on the complaint, a case under IPC sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B has been registered against the accused, police station in-charge RD Kanwa said, adding that a manhunt to nab them was on.
In a similar case that surfaced in Gurgaon, seven housing colonies mushroomed on 30 acres of government lands both inside the city and on the outskirts. Cases were registered against 31 persons in this regard. Therefore, the intending buyers of property should get the title checked whether the site has necessary permissions are not.
