While building a house, bricks play an important role. Generally, red bricks are used for construction of walls. However, there are changes in use of bricks with time. The cement bricks replaced red bricks. These are called AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) blocks that are made of cement, fly ash, lime and water. The AAC bricks are comparatively larger. Moreover, they can be handled quite easily. While building of a wall, the number of joints will be less, making the construction to be qualitative
In spite of the large size, the AAC bricks weigh less. It will reduce load on the foundation and the buildings. Even during natural calamities like earthquakes, they remain intact. They are also eco-friendly. While making the AAC blocks, the material consumed is less. Moreover, they are stronger than normal bricks. They can be used for load-bearing and non-load bearing walls as well as partitions.
Their transportation would be very easy by virtue of their light weight. They do not absorb much little heat from the atmosphere, greatly reducing the room temperature in the structure built using AAC blocks. These are very easy to install. Moreover, the use of the AAC will help increase the carpet area. The AAC bricks help save power, reducing the need to use air-conditioners. These blocks did not require curing, saving a lot of water. Because of these reasons, the builders prefer AAC blocks to the red bricks.
