- Takes decision as offer for sale of
big sites evoke no public response
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (VMRDA) has taken a crucial decision to sell 24 acres of land in undivided Visakhapatam district dividing them into small-sized house sites. The Authority also obtained necessary permissions for the purpose. The VMRDA has decided to sell sites in Madhuravada, Kapuluppada, Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam areas and put the price of house sites at Rs 8000 to Rs 40,000 per square yard depending on the area.
The sales deal should have to be conducted in September last year. The VMRDA would have secured a revenue of Rs 175 crore had the house-sites were sold at minimum price. There was no response to the notification issued by the VMRDA for sale of the plots even after extending the last date for applying. In this backdrop, it decided to divide the sites into small plots and sell.
