Summer cool with Cool tiles

Beat the heat with Summer Cool Tiles

Increasing use of cool roof tiles
Starting at Rs. 60 per square feet

It is just April, and the sun is already too harsh. The situation is going to be even worse next month. The use of fans and ACs has increased a lot. Those who do not have ACs are suffering from heatstroke and the heat of the sun. For such people, while methods such as cool roof paint are available, now cool roof tiles are another option. In recent times, their use has increased.

Nowadays, all the cities have turned into concrete jungles, and the houses are made of stilt houses, so the heat has increased in the houses. None of these can prevent the heat from entering. In this background, cool roof tiles are used to prevent this heat. By grilling them on the patio, the heat inside can be reduced significantly. Usually, the sun rays fall on the slab, and the heat gets inside. But if these cool roof tiles are installed, the sun rays falling on the roof will be reflected back into the atmosphere. This reduces the heat coming into the house.

With cool roof tiles, the temperature inside the room is likely to decrease by 5 to 8 degrees and the temperature above the roof by 15 to 18 degrees. There are many types of this, too. Varieties like normal, anti-squid, and matte are available. Various colours and designs are also available. But tiles close to white are better. This is because white tiles have a Solar Reflective Index (SRI) of more than 90. The rest of the coloured tiles have an SRI of 75 to 90. The higher the SRI, the lower the heat coming into the house. And the prices of cool roof tiles are starting at Rs. 60 per square feet. And they are taking up to Rs. 60 per square feet to install them. Experts say that if these cool roof tiles are installed once, there will be no damage for about 25 years. It is claimed that tiles will last longer if they are kept free of moss and rainwater.
