Rs 100 crore land scam reported in Kukatpally

An incident of disposing of five acres of land, reserved for parks and educational institutions, illegally developing it into plots came to light in Kukatpally area of Hyderabad city recently. The Hyderabad Industries’ Limited employees’ society, allegedly by hand in glove with officials, resorted to the irregularities, according to the Forum for Good Governance. The society developed 45-acre layout in Kukatpally in 1984 and earmarked five acres for development of parks, schools and other community facilities. In all, 12 sites have been allotted for the purpose.

The society authorities allegedly in cohorts with local political leaders, the HMDA employees, registration department employees and Kukatpally civic body developed 100 house sites in the 12 sites and disposed them off to others, according to reply furnished by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Town Planning section to the Forum for Good Government to a question posed to it under the RTI. The FGG has requested Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to probe into the irregularities with the help of vigilance department or with the help of any other agency.
Commercial complexes are being built at these places with the help of Kukatpally municipality, Forum for Good Governance secretary Padmanabha Reddy alleged. The value of the land was put at Rs 100 crore. He sought to know how can any authority permit registration of the said land and allow construction of structures on such sites. The Forum sought full-scale probe into the issue.
