In a case of attempted murder and domestic violence on his daughter-in-law, a builder who is undergoing jail term in one case has been arrested in another prior to his release on bail in the first case.
He was identified as Raman Patel, owner of Popular Builders. In a three-decade-old case, Sanand police in Ahmedabad district detained him, who has been lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail, again in another case through a transfer warrant.
He was lodged in jail in the first case in August of 2020. However, the district court granted him bail on Tuesday.
He is expected to be out on bail. But the police arrested him in a fresh case.
According to a complaint lodged by a farmer named Kanu Patel of Chekla village in the Sanand area, his family inherited two sites measuring 62,500 square metres of land. However, Raman Patel, with the help of forged documents, cheated his father and encroached on the lands in 1994 and 1996, the complaint said.
The police investigated the case and established culpability, leading to the arrest of Raman Patel. It is pertinent to note here that Raman Patel and his brother Dasaradh Patel were the CBI witnesses in the Sohrabuddin encounter case.
The two brothers were involved in several cases of cheating by creating fake documents.
