Over 11 million registrations recorded in 20 states
RERA is making significant strides in enhancing transparency and accountability in the real estate sector in the country. Acting as a bridge between buyers and developers, RERA has crossed the one-million mark in terms of registrations.
Since the introduction of RERA in 2017, over 11 million units and 143,000 real estate projects have been registered across 20 states in the country. This information was revealed by PropEquity. Between 2022 and 2024, the number of projects registered under RERA dropped by 21%. However, between the calendar years 2020 and 2022, it increased by 145%, reaching 25,281 projects. Looking at the state-wise data, Maharashtra leads with the highest number of projects at 48,047, accounting for 40% of the total projects registered in the top-10 RERA states. Tamil Nadu holds 17% of the share with 19,987 projects, while Gujarat holds 14% with 16,265 projects. Considering the top-10 states, 119,000 projects with 9.71 million units were registered under RERA between 2017 and 2024. The top-10 states with the highest number of registered projects are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan.
