- Visakha Metropolitan Exercise to
make available by this month end
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is working hard to complete the work on one cent of the layouts by the end of this month. In any case the goal is to complete the tasks within the specified deadline. VMRDA is developing 56 layouts on nearly 4,000 acres in Visakhapatnam district to provide housing to 1.8 lakh poor people. Has appointed several special teams to oversee these works.
In fact, the development work on these layouts started two years ago but has stalled due to court cases. With the recent dismissal of the cases by the AP High Court, the authorities have started work on a war footing. The government has decided to distribute the housing plots by the 31st of this month. CM YS Jagan will be participating in the event and distributing rails. Authorities have identified 1.8 lakh beneficiaries to distribute housing plots under the ‘Homes for the Poor’ scheme. Each of them is given a cent space. Layout works are being done to this extent. The government has sanctioned Rs 150 crore to VMRDA for this.
