The National Green Tribunal has slapped a penalty of Rs 115 crore on the TDI Group and other builders of Kundli, Sonepat district of Haryana for violation of Environmental Protection Act. The builders, including the TDI group, are accused of discharging the sewers into the river violating the rules. Therefore, Kisan Uday Samiti, a registered body of villagers of Nagal Kalyan and adjoining villages, complained to the NGT in 2018 explaining it the problems being faced by them due to discharge of sewers in the river.
They charged the official machinery with in cohorts with the builders. The Bench, upon hearing both sides, found the builders at fault. It levied a fine of Rs 95 crore on TDI infrastructure, while Ansal API was asked to pay a fine of Rs 1 crore. Similarly Parkar Residency has been levied a fine of Rs 10 crore.
