My most priceless space in home is the sneaker room

Harshavarrdhan Kapoor

The residence of Harshvarrdhan Kapoor is a beau of a study in contrasts. His home has been exquisitely designed with rich colours and accessories, in addition to being methodically developed. It has been purposefully decorated in neutrals! “Whoever comes to my house, do not miss to say how warm it’s to be here. Darker, warmer colours are trending at the moment, so there are lots of choices out there, and that’s when I spotted cosy rugs. Just, so suitable for my home. While building this territory with my family, there was no scam, no fate involved. Sheer hardwork! I remember when my dad was dating mum, and decided to only marry mumma if we was able to afford a home on his own. That’s when the foundation of that home was laid,” shares the youngest child of Anil Kapoor.

Welcome into his opulent and regal mansion, along with Bombay Velvet fame having his own minimalistic avant-garde sea-facing apartment too! Before speaking of his own pad, he gives some insights upon his father’s home too. “Dad’s home is designed to evoke a sense of grandeur, embraces large windows on the wooden artwork and flooring, which are made from dark wood. Brass ornates and paintings of deities at the open entrance of his home, induces a sense of peace for us. Rani Mukherjee loves it the most! Within our ancestral home, dad has a room he likes to call his den, which is a space that will remind you of London, kid you not.”

Mirzya actor goes on, “If I talk about my apartment, only those people are allowed who I trust and value because this is a sanctuary built with own efforts. Our main home brings a lot of history with it — my sister Sonam was born here. As we kids grew in number, my father turned a building into a bunglow. The success of Hum Paanch gave him the luxury to buy our first home ever!” Harshvarrdhan’s new home has been meticulously crafted as an abode for just one. His pad is a window into his soul. To double up his living room into a space where he can appreciate films and music, Harshvarrdhan transformed the room into a cinema, maximising his audio visual experience. Harshvarrdhan’s home also consists of his precious sneaker room which was designed to make the hues and tones of each pair of shoes stand out, without making it look cluttered! That’s the primary focus, because he’s a sneakerhead.

“Also, in dad’s home; there is a chair bought from a church, because script narrations happen in that specific room when all of us are there. When, we were locked inside our homes—my father and I spent most of our time in the in-built gym we have. Although, most of the credits to mum because she’s the magician behind that home. Since, she and my nani loves plants so much—they filled the whole terrace with trees and bushes. You have to continue to keep looking after your home like a child, that’s what my father taught me and I am on the right route now.” When he recently bought a house of his own, he says its a dream come true. “The pad is right at the water but still cocooned by trees, that’s the sort of privacy I admire. I don’t like a traditional living room at all! So, I used this opportunity to build a cinema house for myself to continue to assimilate knowledge about the world films. My dad exploits my pad when he has to impress someone who is an intellectual in music (he laughed).”
