Everyone has a thousand wishes, but some has a special sentiment attached to that desire. Like Malayalam and Telugu actress Mirnaa Menon has a home that is deeply intertwined with nature. She says, “Leonardo DiCaprio visited a place in Kerala in 2002. During his visit, he wrote in a visitor’s diary which said that if there’s paradise on earth, it is here. I am fortunate enough to be born and brought up in this paradise. My house was surrounded with lush green gardens and trees. The house from my childhood has always influenced me to be in touch with nature. After all, I am from the God’s own country.”
In conversation with the actress who was born in Idduki we learnt, it’s the traditional style of Kerala that attracts one! One of the most well-known style of kerala is nalukettu. Modern house roofs looks great in style with sloped roofs pitched roof and flat roofs. But the Kerala designs are apart from all styles. Because the kerala houses are giving a special attraction and tradition. She adds, “I am always a lover of minimalistic designs. All my houses will have a lot of space within. With respect to furnitures, I prefer only the basics. The only thing I fill my house with is a lot of plants! After all, a place to dwell should ideally be designed in a way that offers you and your family a comfortable stay.”
Her spacious home will have a positive impact on her health, both mentally and physically too. Adding to that, “I really don’t mind being in a flat, villa or bungalow. The only thing that matters to me is the interior! I am very particular with my interiors and I want it to be peaceful. Other than work, we spend most of our time at home and it’s obvious we would want it to be a happy place to spend time.
It should offer you privacy and personal space, the two key factors needed to sustain peace and harmony.” Besides, with the current situation of the corona, people are spending more time at home as they have been transformed into their workplace, compelling people to opt for larger homes. Mirnaa continued, “My childhood home, where my mother gave birth to me will always remain as my dream land. I would love to go and extra mile to offer spacious homes that aid healthy living and foster emotional well-being.”
When she sees open areas, lit brightly by broad windows, it gives her a pleasurable feeling. Cramped rooms with narrow corridors do not let in fresh air and light, which obstructs appropriate air circulation. That’s not Mirnaa’s style! Sunshine and fresh air positively influences indoor air quality. Also, “I just love spending time in my balcony—just sit alone with you’d refreshments and feel the inner peace dangling. Do not think about any worldly pleasures! And, just wait for your mood to refresh instantly. Residence is much more than a roof over my head.
A personal space, where I can be myself without any worries. With a large home, I have the choice to combine functionality and aesthetics that offers a conducive living environment. In the end, who wouldn’t love to have their own space where they can inhabit in the solitude of their thoughts, the me-time?” Nowadays, you no longer have to step out of the house for a session of exercise on a hot day, because your home has it all. And, then, “I am all set to build my dream home in the lap of nature, an unadulterated place. It improves mental health too,” told the actress.
Either live in the forest canopy, between heaven and earth or fulfill your childhood fantasy of living in a tree house, the choice is yours! The engineer graduate is totally gaga over plants in her dream home—”I love basking in the nature. Kerela is already my natural paradise, I just wants to sit back and relax. I would love to unwind the beauty of my home filled with plants and simplicity.” As we learnt, she’s totally particular about decorating her home, all by herself, she is not going to leave any corner unfulfilled by her magic.
Right from choosing the appropriate furniture to painting the walls as she like, it’s all going to be her playground. “I love collecting decorative items for my home, if i have the time i can even indulge in making the handicrafts. That’s just my bounty of love for the dream home I would love to build. Moreover, if we speak of Hyderabad, real estate as we all know is growing exponentially. This city has better housing prospects! The growth of city and people are going into the right direction, and i love it. If ever, I fell in love with any of my Telugu colleague’s home, i am open to encapsulating their decor into mine with a pinch of Mirnaa’s taste,” she signs off.
