The implementation of layout regularisation scheme in Visakhapatnam is proceeding at snail’s pace. The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is yet to dispose of the applications received under the LRS. In fact, over 4400 applications have been received under the scheme. Some are incomplete, posing problems in the scrutiny of the applications, according to the VMRDA.
However, applicants allege inordinate delay in the scrutiny of the applications. Some of the applications are not being considered at all. As per the lay out rules, ventures should be developed in 60 cents of land out of one acre. However, some developers have been promoting ventures in 80 cents out of an acre. Depending on land size and value, the penal charges will be levied, according to VMRDA officials.
The penalty will be calculated on the basis of the market rates prevailed as on August 31, 2019.
