- Environmentalist Dr. Lubna Sarwath’s letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy
Prominent environmentalist Dr. Lubna Sarwath has once again raised her voice against the encroachments happening along the Musi River’s catchment area. She wrote a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging immediate action to address these encroachments and industrial pollution.
While she acknowledged that the Chief Minister is committed to the restoration of the Musi River, she expressed concern that the concerned authorities, especially the Musi River Front Development Corporation, have not been functioning adequately. She pointed out that the Aditya Homes’ Vantage project is a clear example of this issue. According to official KML data provided by Google Earth and NRSC maps, the project appears to be directly located along the Musi River, which needs to be stopped immediately. She emphasised that this is a very serious matter.
Regarding the restoration of the Musi River, Dr. Sarwath urged that encroachments on the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs should also be removed. In her latest letter, she reiterated the points made in her previous petitions, including a letter written on September 1st of last year. She also submitted evidence to show that no action has been taken on these issues yet.
