Actress Zareen Khan belongs to one of the largest ethnic groups of Afganistan & that made us reach out to know her interests in building a dream home that will reflect so much of her Pathani culture. With a strong tribal organization—they have so many traditional stories that we couldn’t keep a count of it.
Beginning with her childhood residence, she shared, “We had a small house in Santa Cruz and my dad’s extended family lived around us. Though it was a 1bhk—those were the most simpler times that I enjoyed as a child. As I am evolving in this industry also, I go as plain as I can while decorating my space. I am no drama at all! My job allows me to see as many luxurious hotels I can, but my gut feeling says when I return home—it should feel cozy and warm. Minimalism is the sweeping lifestyle these days. I don’t want an exhibition of furniture when I return (she laughs). Concealing the natural zest of my culture, my interior design will be different. Even now, you won’t find a dressing table in my room! That’s how simple i am. Whereas my mother, she goes OTT. She wants vibrant colors, or else she wants our home to look like a lavish palace. There is a stress on creating warmth with decor in our house! We always have a clash on this.”
Hospitality also matters for Zareen, and, “To host as many animals I can, let me just choose a villa because I am a huge animal lover. A garden would be so preferable for my pets. I also have this desire to own a farm house, sort of inspired by Salman. I love being in nature — can have my own orchard and veggies growing. Can have a stable! I would love to become Jane from Tarzan and stay there for a while.” When Zareen isn’t shooting, she’ll be in that secret room of hers that accomodates all her pets. “I know it sounds crazy but yes i do have a seperate room made for them. There are more animals than humans in my house! Comfortable and entertaining is that zone for my pets. They are my stress busters. A room for them is also helpful for creating a sense of security when they’ll be cared by me,” adds the actress who started her cinema career from Tollywood itself. She continued, “Since i am a traveller, i would want to live in every country. I like to be a bag packer and explore every other country. But, goa and Manali will be my go-to options for building a dream home or maybe London. Dubai is anyway my home! Anytime you’ll see tourists will flock to Goa, for a reason. The expertise coming there is the talk of the country, so why not relocate there? Again, i don’t want my dream home to look like a flea market.”
We all know her camaraderie with Salman Khan from the times of Veer, and that’s how the bond grew closer with him. She really admires his home—she narrated, “Salman Khan is the biggest superstar we have but his like lies in an apartment. That’s how I am. You will not find any extravagant piece of furniture in his house or any international piece like others try to flaunt. Also, i remember visiting Akshay’s house too and it’s a beach view villa. I was awestruck!”
