At least 100 owners who bought flats in Mayfair Residency, located in Greater Noida West, protested outside the society on February 13 against the inordinate delay in handing over the flats to them by the builder. Most of the buyers had invested in the project in 2011. The builder promised them to deliver the flats in 2015.
Over 600 families still await possession of the flats in the society. Over 1054 flats have been built in seven towers. The home owners have been paying rents and also have been paying EMI on loans availed. Some of them have lost jobs or lost family members during Covid-19.
Most of the buyers of Mayfair Residency are government employees who had booked their flats in 2010-11 and are still waiting for it a decade later. Some of them lodged a complaint against the builder for cheating and fraudulent activities in 2018 with the Preet Vihar police, but no action was taken so far. Some of them, moved court in 2020 against the builder. An official of Mayfair Residency, however, said buyers who have made full payment have already been given flats. He also added that the construction had to be put on hold in between as Rs 30 crore of payment was pending from the buyer’s side.
