AMC for sale of plots to avoid GST burden
The burden of GST has become a bane for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). It is struggling to lease out its plots and buildings. 18 percent GST is payable on lease of a plot or built property. As this becomes a burden to the lessee, no one comes forward to lease it. AMC has taken an unexpected decision in this context. It decided to sell them instead of leasing them. It is expected that there will be no burden of GST, and as a result, many people will come forward to buy them.
