The Government of Andhra Pradesh has created a new zone in the master plan for development of Amaravati to give house-sites to the homeless poor. It allotted 900 acres for this purpose. The government is inviting objections, if any, to the changes effected to the master plan before the deadline, Nov 11. In fact, the CRDA has approved the changes made to the Master Plan. Amendments made to the CRDA Act have been approved by the state governor. Earlier, the local farmers severely opposed the idea of giving house site plots to the poor. They event went to the extent of approaching the AP High Court. They argued that it is not justified to give the land, alienated from them for the state capital, to the non-locals. The non-locals are being deployed here to stifle the voice of the locals, they said.
