The Bombay High Court breathed fire on the violations of the floor space index in Navi Mumbai. It ordered the local civic body to identify the persons responsible for such illegal constructions. The court made these comments while hearing a writ alleging Floor Space Index (FSI) scam taking place in Navi Mumbai. A student has filed the writ petition alleging irregularities in the allotment of plots the CIDCO in many parts of Mumbai. More than 10,000 houses have been constructed illegally.
While only the ground floor is allowed, 90 %of them have built two floors each, which is completely illegal. These violations were brought to the notice of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation officials but they ignored it. After hearing the arguments, the court ordered civic officials to identify those responsible for the illegal constructions first.
