Senior journalist U. Kameshwara Rao appointed as a AP RERA member

  • Government issued orders
  • He worked in Eenadu and Sakshi newspapers, with a vast experience
  • Recognised as one among sincere journalists in Telugu media
  • Measures being taken to further strengthen

It can be said that Andhra Pradesh is ahead of Telangana in strengthening the RERA Authority. The AP government has not only established the RERA, but is taking steps to strengthen it by appointing members. To this effect, it has decided to appoint competent and efficient persons as the RERA members. Recently, three members were appointed exclusively for the AP RERA including Rajashekar Reddy, Upadrashta Kameshwara Rao and Jagannath Rao. Special Chief Secretary Y Srilakshmi issued a GO to this effect.

Among those who have been appointed as RERA members, Upadrashta Kameshwara Rao is best known as a senior journalist. He has earned a good reputation in journalistic circles as a sincere and honest person. During his stint, he worked as an in-charge for the real estate pages of Eenadu and Sakshi newspapers. During the 2006 turmoil in real estate market, he succeeded in creating awareness and stabilizing the market though his series of stories in Sthirasthi pages of Eenadu newspaper.

He also wrote numerous articles on economy for the Edit pages in Eenadu news daily. He also served as the business editor in Sakshi newspaper following its launch. Considering his vast experience as a person who witnessed the development, decline and re-emergence of the Hyderabad’s real sector, the appointment of Kameshwara Rao as a member of the Andhra Pradesh RERA should be welcomed. Sources in the real estate sector felt that his appointment to RERA was a testament to the fact that the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government was proactive in developing the realty sector. On the occasion, C Shekar Reddy, former president of CREDAI National, welcomed the appointment of Kameshwara Rao as a member. He expressed confidence that the RERA would be further strengthened in Andhra Pradesh.
