The coworking industry is poised to grow at an average rate of 15 per cent per annum. The flexible office space area in the country is put at 3.5-crore sft. Out of which, 71 per cent (2.5-crore sft) is being maintained by big operators, according to a CII and Anarock joint report. Several companies and new entities, which are using co-working space, are keen to enter into this sector, according to Anarock group chairman Anooj Puri.
Smart Works is going to introduce 2.5-lakh seats in the next 3-4 years in an area of 20 million sft. A joint survey by Anarock and Linkedin says that 90 per cent of the units are inclined to work from office space on account of the doubts over credibility of the remote working, commenced due to Covid-19. In fact, 46 per cent of the units that are inclined towards hybrid systems of work are evincing interest in coworking space. Moreover, 30 per cent are interested in the hub-and spokes model, while 24 per cent are interested in the office lay-out model.
The joint survey indicates that 54 per cent liked the hybrid system of work – i.e., working some days in a month from the office and some days from home. 33 percent of the sample surveyed voted for working from office. Another sample of 13 per cent is keen to work from home because of the small size of their apartments and big size of the families.
