Senior advocate Vikas Singh has landed in a piquant situation in SC. Vikas Singh, who had earlier argued for stalling the Central Vista project of the Center, in a latest development has appeared before the SC to argue on behalf of the developers and builders. His purpose is to argue before the SC to lift the ban on construction activity in Delhi. He appealed to the SC for an urgent hearing on the case. He wanted the stay banning the construction activity to be lifted immediately.
Chief Justice NV Ramana, responding to the petition, observed, “On one hand you argued for preventing pollution and on the other, you wanted the stay to be lifted on a ban on construction activity representing the builders.” The CJI remarked, “Let us leave the decision to the Center.” He refused to take up Vikas’ petition on an urgent basis. Earlier, Vikas argued that the Central Vista project is increasing pollution in the city and questioned the Center whether Central Vista should take precedence over the health of the people. The same lawyer has been pleading for lifting the ban on construction activity.
